Redefining the Solo Life.

The Un-Expected.

It’s 10:40-ish in the evening, he arrived in the office and logged in. Took a few breather then approached me with the most angelic look I have not seen for months.

“Sorry, hindi ako nakapasok ng maaga. Sobrang traffic sa EDSA.”

I smiled. “Ok lang, ano ka ba. Andami ko ring tinatapos.”

“Sorry talaga ah.” The sincere look.

His shift was moved to 11:00PM from the normal 9:00PM. We were supposed to meet early for another round of good talk and hanging around. For months, I have never had a descent conversation with a straight guy (add: super gwapo, super bait, super matalino, super bango) after my falling-off with my guy best friend of 13 years. Our conversations were free of charade and full of light-hearted moments.

*Ringing* (Phone Display: KULOT, Do NOT Answer.)

I picked-up the call, head outside the house and sat on the stairs.

“Oh?”

“Alam mo ang dramaaaaaa mo! Emoooooooooooo!!!” imagine the typical Jigs tone when he is having a conversation with Remington. Yung tipong nangungulit na nang-aasar na nagpapa-cute na tunog poging-pogi. Yung tono ng boses habang kasama nya yung mga tambay sa kanto at nag-iinuman. Ganun.

“Eh xmpre ano. Sino ba naman hindi magtatampo. Parang ayaw mo magpakita. I hate you na… :(

Rock Star: The Book Launch

I had a different idea when I’ve heard that Martin and Paulo are reading excerpts from the book of Ricky Lee, for the book launch. Imagine a crowd of people, sitting and listening while the readers turn the pages of the book, seated on a stool and read the lines they were asked to. Listeners would either laugh or get curious – that’s it.

However, Ricky Lee is a rock star. His book launch was the first ever of the type, star-studded and most-loved. I honestly have not heard of him until a few days back, because Martin and Paulo are two of the many stars that will grace the event.

I arrived at the Dome at around 1:30PM, met with few friends then I spotted Martin’s RM and gave a few gestures. He said Martin was at the car, reading his lines of the script. I headed backstage and met Paulo Avelino and Joem Bascon. The customary Hi’s and quick updates then catch-up later after the event – I had to pick-up Andy from outside the Dome and a few more friends (Tere, Alex, Jill, Alvin and Bong). Since Andy was way ahead of time than the rest, I took her to the backstage and there were Avelino and Escudero – together. Star-stricken. Seriously. I can’t move, I can’t even react. I opened my bag, let out a cigarette and puffed.

I didn’t know what happened next – I only realized the two had gone without a word. They must have missed each other. They are best-friends from GMA’s Starstruck 4. Before there was Remington and Jigs, there was Motmot-Paupau (Motmot is Martin’s pet name, Paupau is Paulo’s). So I was left looking at Andy and Martin Del Rosario having a moment. Hahaha! That little naughty girl.

You Already, AMAPOLA!

There have been countless moments when I have been wondering of when will Martin Escudero and Paulo Avelino be reunited in one project. After Martin moved to TV5 and Paulo stayed in GMA, the opportunities have become less and less and lesser. Then Paulo moved to ABS-CBN, with a brighter star and a better opportunity… and Martin, of course, had his spectacular glaze in his lead-role Remington. The stakes have become even broader.

Lui Perez, Jan Manual, Paulo Avelino and Martin Escudero. These are my favorites, until now. Nothing has changed. Of course, as with any other selections there has to be someone who stands out from the others. If you have been following this blog, you know by now who that is.

Macho, Gwapito!

Coming from a Monday-night shift and having to wake-up early for a Tuesday shift has never been very comforting. Others would hate Mondays. I hate Tuesdays, ever since. Worked 8:00PM on a Monday, went home at 11:00AM. Ready-ed alarm clock to wake me by 5:00PM, hit the sack at 12:15PM. That’s approximately 4 hours of sleep.

At exactly 4:12PM earlier, a call came in – at the loudest ring level. “Kerbie Zamora” (first brain thought: dreaming) but the phone kept the irritating ring. Yes, Kerbie’s calling.

“Hoy kulot!”
“Oh, san mo na naman nakuha yung tinag mo sa akin?”
“Hahahahahahahahhahahahaha! Screen shot sa Youtube.”
“San ka ngayon?”

And the feeling-so-close-like-we-are-bestfriends conversation went on. I’d like to be very careful on the next few details I am sharing as I do not want to pre-empt the investigation or any steps his legal counsel may be taking. So quote me instead, not Kerbie. :-P

B.R.A.W.L. #$%^&*(-_-)

More than the frustration and disappointment felt, would be the flaring ego to tell everyone who was able to watch the Buzz yesterday that Kerbie Zamora is not how the story bitter-coated him to be. I was on my way home when I received an SMS asking if the news is true. Kerbie went on a brawl after a basketball game.

WHAT THE FUCK?! Was my first reaction. Then the quick think.

I asked Kerbie. “Kulot, how true?”. No reply.

A few more blabber-mouthed pieces and I got the story. True or not, I got the story. For those who were not able to watch The Buzz yesterday, HERE’s the video courtesy of phnoy.com (a few techie tricks, and I was able to do without the entire website it was sourced from). Watch at 7:00 play time. :)

From the moments we had, Kerbie is the type who has no regard toward the barrier between showbiz and personal life. He is what he is. When I brained his first-ever Fans Day, we had several arguments along how he wants things to be – and how I think things should be. Worst, we had a big fight four days prior the event. No one knew the reason – and I choose not to let-out.

Jigington Bromance

This is an absolute out-of-the-box entry. I still have to blog two events – Aswang’s Premiere Night and the much-needed reunion with now Kapamilya, Paulo Avelino and Glamorosa’s Press Conference at the Meralco Theatre. As of this time, there’s still the Mall Show with Martin Escudero.

But more compelling than the overdue blogs, is the gladness I felt when I tried google-ing Kerbie Zamora and Martin Escudero to see what my finds are. This brought me to, as my belief and hunch would tell me, a dedicated Tumblr Account – http://jigingtonbromance.tumblr.com/ it’s an amazement of appreciation to talent and art. Not of Jigs and Remington – but of whoever the owner of the account is.

I have a hunch that this is kept by Rachel and her sister – please bang me if it is otherwise. But all praises to a good art! This is soooo much appreciated! Please, please. If you are reading this – let me know. I’ve shouted around my Facebook and Twitter for you. ;-)

I am not a big follower of Showbiz Talk Shows, but on a Sunday afternoon – where I am idled by lesser opportunities, social invites and where-to’s – I stay at home (cook good food) and tune in to ABS-CBN for ASAP Rocks and The Buzz. I surrender my cable rights on History, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Animax, HBO, Star World, ETC & CNN and decide to toggle from ABS-CBN, GMA7 and TV5 ONLY for comparison, and see how far have Party Pilipinas and Showbiz Central (of GMA7) and Celebrity Samurai and Paparazzi (of TV5) leveled-up to the world-class and elite performances in ASAP Rocks; and the unbiased, carefully-thought-excellently-delivered opinions, and timely entertainment gossips & updates in The Buzz.

For the benefit of making my opinion as free-flowing & impartial as possible – I am such a big go-er to GMA7’s now defunct S.O.P. You might have guessed it by now. A go-er not because I love (or like to the very least) the network’s show, but because Martin Escudero was a main-stay until they have decided to reformat and give it a new kick. Party Pilipinas has made drastic changes and improvements but not in the level that would at least be worthy of good entertainment. A personal vendetta would be SOP’s extremely lighted stage and the many quick stops and snaps of images, however you call it, that burns my eyes. Thank heavens, Party Pilipinas was able to remedy that. I am grateful to S.O.P. (now Party Pilipinas) for the many avenues for an opportunity that made my being a fan worthwhile, but ASAP Rocks, is just ASAP Rocks. ASAP by itself, is a statement of Quality Entertainment.

Now, on with the subject of this blog.

The Sunday before yesterday’s, I was packed on meeting friends and former colleagues. Thankfully, @KrisAquinoSTD was tweeting about ASAP Rocks, Party Pilipinas and Paparazzi. Side note: for the many, especially those that he/she mentions – @KrisAquinoSTD’s tweets may come as very offensive and bashing. He/she hits way too below the belt and becomes extremely straight-forward. Some of his/her antiques and ‘least’ favorites include: Erik Santos, Piolo Pascual and Mel Tiangco. Read his/her tweets and have your own take.

to be Loved by You

You know the song, “how sweet it is to be loved by you…”?

Try singing that with the photo below as the wallpaper in your mobile companion. I went really laughing and giggly when I saw Kerbie Zamora’s unguarded moment in my colleague’s mobile phone, and started to laugh really hard. No. Not because I felt it was cheap or anything but because the once tamed and reserved I-only-speak-when-spoken-to type of girl is now all-passionately expressing her “love” for Kerbie Zamora.

Courtesy of Jean Tan (from where Kerbie was tagged in Facebook), see what you think of this still-hot-even-while-in-paradise moment. ;)

I am making him my wallpaper for today, too.
